Calgary Alternative Residential Services (CARS) is looking for an active, enthusiastic and energetic individual to fill an available Supportive Roommate position. The male client requires assistance with transportation around the city from time to time and the home must be near public transit - the roommate would be required to assist the client with becoming familiar with the transit system. The ideal individual would be comfortable with animals as the client is blind and has a seeing eye dog. Responsibilities of the position would also include helping the client become orientated to the new neighborhood, assistance with daily living skills, community inclusion as well as providing emotional support when needed.
Required Education:
Degree/Diploma in Human Services is an asset
Required Training:
First Aid, Occupational Health and Safety, Abuse Protocol, Police Check
Experience:
2 or more years experience related to individuals with developmental disabilities
Other Required Skills:
Good communication skills both verbal and written
