What’s your name, title and how long have you been working in your current role here?
My name is Lisa Kennedy and I am the Payroll Specialist at CASS. I have been at CASS since March 2020.
What other roles have you had in the agency if any?
I am currently working as the Lead on the Dayforce Implementation Project.
What is your favourite part about working at Calgary Alternative Support Services?
My favourite part about working at CASS is the staff. I was hired two days prior to CASS locking their doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic, so I have not yet met any of our clients. The handful of employees I have had the pleasure of working with at the CASS main office during the past two years has been wonderful. CASS staff members are easy-going, approachable and helpful and have made the past two years super enjoyable.
How do you help improve disability inclusion in our community?
Through acceptance. Cass advocates for all of their clients to help improve disability inclusion.
How does your cultural background and/or lived experience contribute to your work here?
I have lived in Thailand and Korea while teaching English as a Second Language and have met many different people from everywhere around the world. While abroad I have seen that differences are to be celebrated and that communities did not discriminate. I have seen tiny towns of many different people come together to help others in need. It has taught me so much about compassion, understanding and inclusion for everyone.
What do you like to do for fun outside of work?
My family and I like to go backpacking, hiking and camping in the summers. I also curl and golf.
