I am writing today to share some unfortunate news on behalf of the CASS Senior Leadership Team.

Regrettably, for reasons outside of our control, the partnership between Calgary Alternative Support Services (CASS) and HomeSpace Society at Stepping Stone Manor is coming to an end. CASS will be ceasing its support programming to the residents of Stepping Stone Manor as of July 31, 2024.

We understand that this may come as a shock to many of you. CASS is very proud of the work we have done at Stepping Stone Manor over the past 6 years.

While this change will have limited impact on the majority of CASS staff, we recognize it is of serious consequence to staff primarily employed at that worksite. Our CEO Mylaine Tsaprailis has met individually with all affected staff members to discuss the impact on each of them. CASS is committed to supporting those individuals during this transition.

Additionally, a notice has been issued to all residents of Stepping Stone Manor to inform them of this development. CASS understands the potential disruption this may cause for residents of Stepping Stone Manor and we are working diligently to minimize any negative impact on them. It is important to know any disruption will be limited to the provision of support services, and resident’s housing is not being effected.

The Calgary Homeless Foundation has posted a request for proposals (RFP) to identify an alternate agency to assume services at Stepping Stone Manor. CASS will work with the selected agency to ensure continuity of care for the residents of Stepping Stone Manor, to the best of our ability.

We would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation for the dedication of staff at Stepping Stone Manor over the years, and as we see out our remaining time supporting its residents.

Despite this unexpected development, we remain steadfast in our commitment to our agency’s purpose “Facilitating connections and opportunities that promote personal value, engagement, and inclusive communities.”

Together we will continue to make a positive impact on the lives of the individuals we serve.
